Her Story
Dr. Workman brings a rare blend of advanced clinical expertise and deeply personalized care to every patient she treats. After earning her degree in Physiology and Neuroscience from UC San Diego and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine, Jessica has spent over a decade refining her ability to help people with complex, often unresolved conditions finally find answers and relief.
As a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT) and a Fellow of Functional Manual Therapy (FFMT), Jessica has completed some of the most rigorous advanced training available in physical therapy. She now serves as Partner and Clinical Director at IPA Physio Long Beach, where she is known for taking on challenging cases that require a higher level of clinical insight and whole-body understanding.
Jessica specializes in treating complex orthopedic, neurological, and vestibular conditions, using advanced techniques such as Functional Manual Therapy, Craniosacral Therapy, and Visceral Manipulation. Her work extends beyond traditional physical therapy to address interconnected systems, including airway and sleep disorders, connective tissue conditions, postpartum recovery, concussion management, and performance optimization.
What truly sets Jessica apart is her commitment to seeing the full picture. She takes the time to understand each patient’s unique story, lifestyle, and goals, recognizing that no two cases are the same. By collaborating closely with patients, their physicians, and support systems, she creates individualized treatment plans designed not just to reduce symptoms, but to restore confidence, function, and quality of life.
Jessica is especially passionate about helping individuals who feel like they have “tried everything” without success. Her approach is thoughtful, thorough, and deeply compassionate—focused on helping each person return to the activities that matter most to them.

His Story
Ryan Johnson graduated from Westmont College with a BS in Biology, and then earned the degree of Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of California San Francisco in 2011. After graduating, Ryan enrolled in the Institute of Physical Art’s APTA Credentialed Orthopedic Residency in Eugene, Oregon mentoring under Michael Baum, PT, CFMT and Kent Keyser, PT, MS, OCS, COMT, ATC, CKTP, FFCFMT, FAAOMPT. He then moved to Delhi, India and worked for 3 months as Residency Co-Director/Instructor for the Institute of Physical Art’s Functional Manual Therapy Residency program, where he was involved in training 14 Indian Physiotherapists in Functional Manual Therapy. Upon returning from India he tested for his Certification in Functional Manual Therapy (CFMT), which he passed with distinction (greater than 94% cumulative score). He then relocated to New York City, where completed the Institute of Physical Art’s AAOMPT/APTA Credentialed Functional Manual Therapy Fellowship program under the direct mentorship of Dean Hazama, MPT, FFMT, FAAOMPT. After completing his fellowship, Ryan chose to stay and practice at IPA Manhattan in New York City for a total of 11 years, where he assisted in teaching the FMT Fellowship Program out of that clinic. In 2024 Ryan relocated to Orange County, California to work at IPA Physio Orange County and assist Pete Rumford in teaching the FMT Fellowship Program. Ryan is passionate about helping patients, many of whom have struggled finding solutions and relief elsewhere.
In 2015 Ryan founded the IPA Physio brand of clinics, and has partnered with multiple CFMTs around the country to open practices that he believes were designed to best embody the “patient-centric” concepts of Functional Manual Therapy as taught through the Institute of Physical Art. Ryan is a faculty member for the Institute of Physical Art, teaching several continuing education courses each year.
